Local Rules

1. Buggy Paths and attached drainage gullies. A ball lying on a path or attached gulley may be dropped without penalty under Rule 24-2b (nearest point of relief) CHANGED AS PER 17th SEPTEMBER 2011 2. Wooden surround to bunker on the 14^th. The surround is deemed an immovable obstruction. If the surround interferes with your stance or swing (whether your ball lies inside or outside the hazard), you may take free relief. If your ball is inside, take relief inside. If outside, take relief outside.

3. Drop zone to rear of 2^nd green. Where a ball enters the hazard to the side of the 2^nd green and cannot be dropped within two club lengths of the point that the ball crossed the hazard line and not nearer the hole, the ball must be dropped in the designated ‘drop zone’.

3. 4^th Hole. The turf nursery and 5^th hole teeing area to the left of the 4^th green are deemed Out Of Bounds when playing the 4^th hole.

4. 5^th Hole. Teeing area. The lake to the front and side of the teeing area is marked with red stakes as a lateral water hazard. A ball travelling across the hazard and then falling back into the hazard must be dropped behind the lake, in the designated drop zone, under penalty of one stroke. A ball crossing the hazard line but not carrying the lake should be dropped not nearer the hole and within 2 club lengths of where the hazard was crossed or replayed from where the original stroke was taken. In both cases under penalty of one stroke. A ball crossing the lake to the far left and landing Out of Bounds must be replayed from the tee under penalty of stroke and distance.

5^th Hole. Green area. The lake to the rear of the green is a lateral water hazard. If your ball is in the hazard, you must, under penalty of one stroke, drop your ball in the drop zone nearest to the point where your ball entered the hazard or replay the stroke from the original position under penalty of one stroke.

5. Rocks surrounding the water hazards on the 12^th and 15^th holes. The rocks are inside and integral parts of the hazards. They may be treated as immovable obstructions and free relief taken but only if the ball is outside of the hazard. Because of the danger from club/ball striking the rocks, relief is 2 club lengths. If the ball lies inside the hazard, 2 club length relief may be taken under penalty of one stroke. Note: The marker posts are part of the hazard.

6. The fencing and electric fencing to the left of the 8^th fairway. The fencing marks the line of a lateral water hazard. A ball may be dropped, under penalty of one stroke, where the ball last crossed the hazard line. If the ball comes to rest within the course but close to the fence, the fence may be treated as an immovable obstruction and free relief taken. When dropping under penalty or with free relief, you should drop as close as possible to the hazard but not nearer the hole. In either case you may take free relief from the fence. You may also, under penalty, play from where the previous stroke was played.

7. Plastic protective matting. In some areas of the course, green plastic matting has been inserted to the ground to reduce wear and tear. (e.g. the entrances to the 15^th green). These should be treated as immovable obstructions and free relief taken.

8. Netting and support posts. All netting and associated posts within the course boundaries are deemed to be immovable obstructions. If the ball is embedded in the netting, or the netting or posts interfere with your swing or stance, free relief can be taken. You may not replay the shot that struck the netting or post.

9. Drainage ditches. Free relief may be taken from ‘open’ ditches and channels. i.e. Those covered in stones or wire mesh. Old ditches that have now grown over are not eligible for claiming free relief.

10. Bridges. All bridges that span hazards, whether part of buggy paths or not, are deemed to be integral parts of the hazard but as such, they are also deemed to be immovable obstructions. You may therefore, without penalty, ground your club if you decide to play from the bridge. If you are inside the margin of the hazard and prefer to take relief, you may, under penalty of one stroke. If you are outside the hazard but the bridge interferes with the intended line of your swing, you may take free relief under the immovable obstruction rule.
11. Measuring devices for determining the distance to the flag are allowed.

Rules for dropping the ball where ‘free drop’ permitted.

1/i. The nearest point to where the ball lies, which provides full relief, is marked with a tee or other object.

1/ii. A measurement of one club length, not nearer the hole is, made and marked in the same way.

1/iii. Drop the ball from shoulder height, at arms length, to the side or in front of you, between the markers and not nearer the hole.

1/iv. The ball is in play unless it rolls nearer the hole or comes to rest more than two club lengths from where it first struck the ground.

1/v. In both cases the ball must be re-dropped. If a similar result occurs, the ball must be placed on the point where the ball first struck the ground.

Note: When using a ‘drop zone’, the ball must land in the zone but it does not need to stay inside the zone and iv and v above still apply.

2/i. As detailed in ‘free drop’ above except that two club lengths are taken in 1/ii.

If a player decides that there is no suitable point of relief then the player has the following options:
a. Play the ball as it lies.
b. Play the ball from the last position under penalty of one stroke.
c. Declare the ball "unplayable" and continue under penalty of one stroke applying Rule 28.
"If the player deems his ball to be unplayable, he (or she) must under penalty of one stroke:
Play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5); or
drop a ball behind the point where the ball lay, keeping that point directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped with no limit to how far behind that point may be dropped; or
drop a ball within two club lengths of the spot where the ball lay, but not nearer the hole.
